Marine Life

Master Divers is proud to present the Marinapedia, a guide to the marine life you will see around Koh Tao.

More than a simple fish identification guide, we'll you all about the most interesting species you will see when diving (and to a lesser degree snorkeling) around Koh Tao, how they inter-relate with other species, and their roles within the eco-system.

We will also tell you about current threats and conservation work taking place around the world that relates to these species, and where possible, how you can help.

It's a lot of information, and so this section of the web site will always be expanding. If you should have some information that you would like to contribute, please contact us. Your contribution will be permanently attributed to you.

Whale Sharks are what we're famous for. Koh Tao is a normal stopping off point for Whale Sharks on their annual trips around the world so they're relatively common here. They're completely harmless plankton feeders and the ones we see here range in size from 2.5 metres to 7 metres long.
